You cannot proceed until Odin recognizes your device and you get the Added!! message. If it doesn’t, you need to install/re-install drivers again, and use the original cable that came with device. Mostly, drivers are the problem. You can try different USB ports on your PC too, btw.

Step 8. Load the TWRP file into Odin. For this, click the AP button on Odin and the select the custom kernel file.

If Odin gets stuck at setup connection, then you need to do this all again. Disconnect your device, close Odin, boot device into download mode again, open Odin, and then select the TWRP and flash it again as said above. If you get FAIL in the top left box, then also you need to flash the firmware again as stated just above.

Step 11. Wait till installation is finished, and when it’s done, it’s time to install the TWRP recoverynow. The procedure is same as above, and is mentioned .

Your Note 5 will stay in download mode.
Now,close Odin. Disconnect the device from PC.Open Odin again.
Connect the device to PC again.
Now, load the TWRP recovery file into AP slot of Odin, like you did for custom kernel.→
Make sure only Re-Partitionoption is unchecked under Options tab.
Keep Auto Reboot checked this time.
Hit Start button to install the TWRP recovery. After installation, device will restart.

Step 12. Once your Note 5 is powered on. We can proceed to install root. For that, make sure that you have SuperSU file in your device. Now, reboot into recovery mode.

Power off your Galaxy Note 5. Wait 6-7 seconds after screen goes off.Press and hold the three buttons Volume up + Home + Power together until you see T-Mobile logo on the screen.

Step 13. You’ll see TWRP recovery. To install root, tap on Install menu, and then select the SuperSU file (which you transferred in step 4 above). Then, do the swipe action at the bottom to confirm installation of root.
